The mobile units are based in Cullompton, Devon, from where the majority of the movements and normal maintenance is carried out. Major maintenance needs of the units are carried out by a large engineering company in Plymouth,Devon,  Babcock Marine ( formally DML)

The mobile units are sited at pre-arranged locations using a tractor unit provided by one of our sponsors (Gregory’s)

 They are equipped to provide:

  • Assessment and training in the areas of Information Technology and Hand Skills
  • Individual Action Plans and discussions on the way forward
  • Intervention, Support and Training
  • Personal training programmes identified from local intelligence and evidence from partner organisations.
  • Disabled access.

Our aim is to work with key partner organisations in collaboration whereby Rural Focus will be providing the facilities and opportunities which these mobile units have to offer, and we will work with our partner organisations in securing the training delivery element of individual projects.

Dependent on the venue and the identified need within a specific community, the mobile units can be available to operate five or seven days per week, between 0900hrs and 19.30 hrs. It is most economical to have the mobile units on site for a minimum of 28 consecutive days before they are moved to the next location.  In the event of a stay in one venue for longer than 28 days it is necessary to check with the local authority as to the requirements for planning consent for the units. The units could also visit a number of locations in turn, whereby information could be produced to determine the frequency of future visits. The information might even prove the need for a more permanent facility
